One Liverpool-linked attacker is reportedly leaning towards a move to Brighton rather than transferring to Anfield.

With the January transfer window just days away from being shut, Liverpool remains linked to several names, but none is yet to materialise.

The Reds have already missed out on some of their transfer targets, including Omar Marmoush and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who moved to Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain, respectively.

Although the Premier Lague leaders are not particularly keen on signing new players this January, they are making concrete plans to add to their squad in the summer.

Liverpool coach Arne Slot confirmed this, claiming that the clubs are making plans to strengthen in the summer toward the long-term future of the club.

“Liverpool should always be competing for a league title, we should always be competing for the Champions League.

I’m hoping I will be able to keep the club at that level,” the Reds boss said.

“I know people sometimes question this because they haven’t seen us doing a lot in the transfer market in the summer and now in the winter as well.

There’s a reason for that – because we’re happy with the squad.”

“But I do know we’re definitely working on strengthening in the summer.”

One player who was linked with a summer move to Liverpool is Greek starlet Stefanos Tzimas.

The youngster is on loan at German Bundesliga 2 side FC Nürnberg from Super League club PAOK and is attracting interest from several top European clubs, including Liverpool.

The Reds reportedly sent a club representative to sanction a deal for the 19-year-old in view of a move in the summer.

However, the latest reports from Germany claim that the 19-year-old is favouring a move to Brighton against a move to Liverpool.

Florian Plettenberg provides update on Stefanos Tzimas

According to Sky Sports Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, Liverpool are set to miss out on Tzimas.

“Stefanos Tzimas is currently leaning towards a move to Brighton in the summer after very good talks with Fabian Hürzeler”, the Sky journalist revealed on X.

Interestingly, the journalist named other Premier League clubs interested in a deal for the youngster, conspicuously omitting Liverpool.

“However, Tottenham and Aston Villa are also in the race for Tzimas and are engaged in concrete talks and negotiations, but Brighton is currently in pole position,” he added.

“FC Nürnberg are demanding €25 million plus bonus payments in summer?

Before that, FCN will activate the €18 million buy option for the 19-year-old striker talent.”
